Finolex Academy tie up with Lawrence Technological University, USA in Automotive Engineering The eminent engineering institute in Konkan, Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, Ratnagiri(FAMT) which is giving quality under graduate education to majority of konkan children, has decided to move one step forward by making available, high quality, world known academic program - M.S. in Automotive Engineering of Lawrence Technological University, USA. The memorandum of understanding between two organizations FAMT & LTU, was signed on 30th December 2011 at FAMT,Ratnagiri. Dr. Lewis N. Walker, President, LTU & Dr. K.L.Asanare from FAMT signed Memorandum of Understanding in presence of Shri. P.P.Chhabria, Chairman,Finolex Group, Ms. Aruna Katara, President, I2IT & Dr. Maria Vaz, Provost,LTU. LTU is located in the automobile hub of the world, Michigan, Detroit. The University was established in 1932 and is the leader in the area of Automotive Engineering, manufacturing process, computer & architecture. Within 15 mile radius of LTU campus, are world head quarters for many of the nations’ leading research, industrial & manufacturing firms. More than 200 Fortune-500 companies are head quartered or having major operations in this area. University has excellent interaction in Research & Development with all the major automobile companies. M.S. in Automotive Engineering will be a two year twinning programme, wherein, selected candidates will study foundation course of 2 semesters at FAMT & core courses, will be learnt at LTU, USA. The complete curriculum will be designed by LTU & the credits will be transferable from FAMT to LTU. The degree will be awarded by LTU to successful candidates. India is progressing tremendously in Automobile sector. All the global manufacturers, have already commenced their manufacturing plants in India. Students, holding this specialized degree in Automotive Engineering will have great opportunities in research & development, manufacturing process or marketing & insurance of this industry due to their advanced knowledge in the field. This scheme of twinning collaborative program with foreign university has been designed by AICTE, New Delhi & will be run with due permission from Apex body.
